The Plainview Fire Department members and community enthusiastically support our new youth program. We continuously strive to evolve, adapt and improve the delivery of our services in order to meet the changing needs of our community. We’ve revamped the Youth Division of the Department, which now includes a pathway for our youth to pursue education and training in Emergency Services. In addition, we offer internships and college programs.
Our vision is to ignite a passion for Emergency Services, that will last a lifetime.
Built on the rich history of our “Juniors” program which was developed in the 1970’s, we now move to inspire teenagers to pursue their interests by joining as a junior at age 13-15 and bridging to Restricted Active Membership, at 16, as a Cadet. At age 17-18 they can maintain full department membership.
The Plainview Fire Department has created partnerships with the Plainview School District, Nassau County Fire Service Academy, Nassau County Fire Marshall’s Office, and various colleges, fostering educational and career pathways for the teenagers in our Youth Program. Our goal is to help build a generation of skilled, compassionate, young team leaders, with high integrity, who are interested in serving the community.
We envision a bright future where teenagers are inspired, educated and empowered to become the next generation of professionals in Emergency Services, as well as future community leaders!
Together, we will build a brighter and safer future for all, through commitment, passion and dedication to service.
