COVID-19 Information
To the Plainview Old-Bethpage community –
We are in unprecedented times – we know there is a lot of information being circulated from the Department of Health, Nassau County, the media, on Facebook and from the POB school district.
We want to take this time to assure all residents that between the Nassau County Emergency Ambulance Bureau, Nassau County PD and the Plainview FD we are in a position to respond to any emergency that comes our way.
Given the current state we ask that all residents that experience symptoms for Coronavirus follow the Department of Health guidelines. Additionally there was a joint letter sent out by the school district and the department of health this morning outlining procedures if you experience symptoms.
However, If you do call for an ambulance please be prepared to answer certain questions posed by the dispatcher for the safety of our responders and will also allow us to help expedite care to you or a loved one.
Depending on the type of call, responders may be in full protective equipment including masks, goggles and gowns. This is done for your protection and ours. If you have children at home you may want to explain this to them ahead of time, so they are calmer if it occurs.
We also ask that if you see an ambulance by your neighbors house – Please Stay Away – we understand the level of neighborly concern but please do not approach the ambulance or the first responders or the family members as this will help to reduce the spread if in fact the patient does have a communicable disease.
If you call for an ambulance we are directed where to go by medical control – we cannot take you to the hospital that you may want to go to. Additionally if you call for a FD ambulance you may get a NCPD police ambulance – this will be dependent on call volume and assets that are available at the time of your call.
We make this post in case our services are needed. We ask that you call if you have a true emergency and most importantly please stay calm and be patient. All agencies are doing their best to serve and protect the needs of all residents in the Plainview – Old Bethpage Community.
If you call the firehouse for ANY emergency that requires us to enter a residence you will be asked if anyone is sick / quarantined (voluntary or otherwise) by our dispatcher – you will probably be asked the same question when the first due units arrive
Please allow us to safely do our job and serve you by answering as honestly and concisely as possible
Thank you
